Munro Melano is a film composer, singer, pianist, and songwriter living in Melbourne.

Munro has composed the Brass quintet score for feature film Because We Have Each Other (Sari Braithwaite, 2022), the country music score for feature film Slim & I (Kriv Stenders, 2020), the synth and string quartet score for feature film It All Started With A Stale Sandwich (Samantha Lang, Felix Media, 2019), and the Dark Synth score to ABC feature film Prison X (Hilla Medalia and Amos Roberts, 2023).

In 2018 he wrote the avant-garde score for the provocative experimental feature film [CENSORED], which premiered at 2018 Sydney Film Festival, before launching into an international film run, winning Best Documentary at the 54th Chicago Film Festival. The success of the film, and its rich score, led to a series of special event live performance across Victoria with a 7 piece band. The soundtrack, which was recorded by Melbourne Jazz band – The End, was released by ABC music.

In 2021 Munro worked with long time friend and composer Joel Woolf to write the music for forty videos for American Online Series ‘The Visiting Room’, which interviewed Prisoners in Angola Prison who were serving life without parole sentences.

Munro has worked extensively on film scoring including multi-award winning ABC Documentary Paper Trails, animated childrens short Della Mortika: Carousel of Shame, ABC documentary Why did she have to tell the world?, and horror short Violet Daze. He also created the music for “You Will See Me” – a 5 screen work that is showing in ACMI Melbourne until 2031.

As a collaborative songwriter his work has been nominated for an ARIA award and multiple Golden Guitars for his collaborations with Blue Grass act Mustered Courage.

Most recently he has contributed to albums by Cat Canteri, Tom Woodward, Justin Bernasconi, and James Fahy.

As a solo artist Munro has released two independent EPs (Running Round, Blue Veins), and a self titled album. He has a new 3 track EP coming out March 2026, and is currently working on a new full length album.
